Before I get weird with all the crazy ingredients in today’s 12% ABV NecroGenesis (Ghost 739), there’s one thing I have to make clear: this stuff is delicious!

It’s brand new, but early tasters are already rating it a massive 4.22 on Untappd. Fans are calling it “freakin’ delicious,” “Incredible beer,” and “one of the best I’ve ever had.”

I guarantee you’ve never tasted anything like today’s hyper-limited release from Virginia’s Adroit Theory! It was even brewed as a collaboration with Pennsylvania Death Metal band Outer Heaven, but that's not the weird part.

Ready for the weird part?

It’s Candy cap mushrooms! This Stout is loaded with them! If you’re not familiar with candy caps, they’re not your typical mushroom. Their taste like maple syrup and burnt sugar, and they aren’t eaten like most mushrooms, they’re infused into dishes to add sweetness.

Don’t be freaked out! The Dark Beer masters at Adroit sure weren’t, because they knew the creme brulee sweetness of candy caps would be awesome in a Stout. And they don’t shy away from bold flavors, so they also added coffee, maple, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.

This is the first candy cap beer we’ve ever had at Tavour, and after tasting it I really hope it’s not the last. If you want to try a candy cap beer before any of your buds, pick up a bottle of NecroGenesis. When your friends ask what you’re sipping you can blow their minds with a beer ingredient they’ve never tried before!
