About This Brewery
3 Fonteinen represents over three generations of traditional Belgian Lambic brewing and Gueuze blending. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing; the brewery was nearly caput when a faulty air conditioner caused the whole cellar of beers to explode! Thanks to a close-knit group of local brewers’ help, they rebuilt practically from scratch to become one of the most famous and sought after Belgian breweries. Gods in the world of funky, fruity Sour Ales — 3 Fonteinen dominate the style, making several of the Best 10 Gueuze-style Lambics of all time on Untappd, including Zenne y Frontera, Armand’4 Lente, Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston, and Oude Geuze (Armand & Tommy Blend). 3 Fonteinen’s Belgian Sour Ales are held in the highest regard around the world, setting the standards for blended Barrel Aged Sour Ale excellence for all other countries to aspire to. They share a very short list of peers that includes legends like Cantillon and Tilquin. Hype: Winners of the Objective Beer Tasters Award, Multi-medalists at the World Beer Championships, GABF, and more.
