A Note on This Beer
‘Vintage Nun’ Sour Ale from Adelbert’s Brewery develops uniquely spicy stonefruit flavors by combining nearly 2 years of red wine barrel aging and wild yeast with a rarely used base - a Witbier.
Coriander and orange peel from the Wit base bring extra zest to the peppery blackberry notes of red wine. Bottled last October, the wild yeast character has developed to a point where it’s bursting with apricot nectar, citrus, and tartness.
Tangy nectarine-infused white balsamic aromas come rolling in on hazy waves of antique gold. Liquor-soaked kumquats dissolve on the tongue, releasing alternating splashes of sweet and tart. An extended aging process yields a sharp ever-expanding blast of bubbles that complement the full, satisfying creamy body of a Witbier.
Serve this beer at 45-55 degrees to unlock ‘Vintage Nun’s full effervescent fruity power and see why Adelbert’s is one of Texas’ leaders in Sour Ales.
