Queen of Hearts
Pelican Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Straight off a World Beer Cup Gold Medal, Pelican’s Queen of Heart’s Gin Barrel-Aged Saison shows us why gin barrels are in such high demand. The botanical and lime-like flavors they bring to a beer are devastating. Too bad brewers have such a hard time getting a hold of these barrels - but that’s what makes this beer a queen!
Queen of Hearts bursts with notes of Darjeeling tea and Meyer lemon thanks to its time in Ransom Old Tom Gin Barrels, a world-renown gin distiller in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Tom Gin’s characteristic touch of honey merges with herbal sage from Magnum Hops before this aged Saison finishes with a dry, bright, and Prosecco-like effervescence. This queen blooms with a delicate bouquet of floral and oak notes that compliment its fruity Belgian yeast character.
Bring a gin-kissed sophistication to whatever you’re doing when you open a bottle of the Queen at your table. As you drink, tell friends of this beer’s royal lineage - Pelican boasts 40 GABF medals. It’s safe to say any style they undertake turns to gold.
