Oak Aged Yeti
Great Divide Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Climbing Mt. Everest. Swimming with Great White Sharks. Completing the Iron Man. While only an elite few ever take on these mammoth adventures, a part of everyone wishes they were brave enough to push past their limits.
It’s time to find out what you’re capable of with Great Divide’s Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. This is a beer you scale, this is a beer you take down and its complex and weighty flavors are so insanely detailed your mind stamps the day and time you experienced them just to prove you were there.
Oak Aged Yeti is an incredibly smooth full-bodied beer with dense smoky Stout flavors tattooed with sweet notes of oak. To create it, Great Divide pushes the metal on their award winning Yeti Imperial Stout by aging it on French and American Oak chips.
2014’s Yeti pours a dark and stormy near-black with a thick, tan head that just sits there undisturbed, even after your first few sips. The nose belongs to the malts: deep roast and heady chocolate aromas with hints of wood. Smoked coffee flavors wind around wisps of char, burnt cocoa and subtle vanilla. Creamy throughout, the sweetness of the alcohol builds as you drink culminating in a hoppy finish.
The Colorado bred Oak Aged Yeti rates number 29th on Beer Advocate’s “Top 100 Beers on Planet Earth.” With thousands in contention, this award separates the truly transcendent from the masses of well-rated beers.
You may never ascend Mt. Everest but when you’re in the midst of Oak Aged Yeti, the semi sweet roasted adrenaline of malts, hops and oak will take your breath away.
