Black Raven Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Aroma: Ripe mango and mandarin orange zest. Flavor: It tastes like a more crushable version of the tropical and citrusy Pseudo Sue — imagine Sue but lighter, like she got her dinosaur beach-body ready for Summer. Mouthfeel: CHUG, CHUG, CHUG.
The best comparison for the cooperative superpower of skills that went into today’s beer has to be the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball team dubbed “The Dream Team.”
Many teams have had 2 or 3 stars join forces. But the world had never seen domination at the level of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing in matching jerseys. They won by an average of 43.8 points per game!
We’ve seen our share of collaboration beers, but never before have we witnessed a collab between every brewery in an entire region!
The beer is called Eastside Story American Pale Ale because all of the parties involved reside on the east side of Lake Washington, just across the bridge from Seattle.
Seven Washington breweries including GABF Gold-medalists Black Raven, Valley House, 192, Dubtown, Flycaster, Foggy Noggin, and Post Doc aligned with Skagit Valley Malting, one of the most respected malt houses in the country. With their powers combined, they created one hell of a hoppy warm-weather pounder.
Snag a few cans of Eastside Story, and whenever your friends talk about the best beer collabs, tell them the tale of the Dream Team from Washington that combined the skills of 8 different brewing masters.
