AleSmith Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Let me be early in wishing you a happy turkey day. The day many of you are looking to introduce something you have been cellaring away.
Take it from me, the opportunity to entice debate over a beverage is nothing to pass on. Thanksgiving for me is as much about introducing beers as it is about friends, family, and the foodorama.
This year, we wash down the assortment of desserts with a few of the Stille Nacht made by Brouwerij De Dolle Brouwers (thanks to friend Jason for a wonderful gift). Still Natcht, I am sure, will entice passionate opinions from the ones who enjoy and those that don’t “get it”.
Our offer today is another beer meant for special occasions and made closer to home. AleSmith’s Decadence series this year is a Dopplebock Lager, a style with centuries of history. If the other name for this style, “liquid bread”, doesn’t entice your guests, its malty aroma will and the complex taste profile will likely get them hooked.
Yearly Decadence releases, introduced in 2005 to celebrate a decade of AleSmith brewery’s success, are eagerly awaited by their fans in SoCal and around the country. The 2013 lager in a 750 ml bottle is cellarable for years to come or enjoyable now. Its malty, toffee start is balanced with a quick but sharp finish. But don’t let the hints of sweetness trick you. At 10% ABV it is a size to be shared and one of the highest alcohol content Decadence to date.
Ideally served for a special occasion in a Goblet at 50-55 degrees
We have a very small batch of this special release.
