ColdFire Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
In Eugene, Oregon, Coldfire is turning the whole hazy map on its head! Until now, the secrets of authentic New England-style IPAs have been kept almost exclusively on the East Coast. By using low-flocculant yeast like the big boys in New England, Coldfire creates a tropical juice bomb that surpassed the big boys of hazy IPAs like Toppling Goliath, Burial and freakin’ Trillium in a Paste Magazine blind IPA taste test: Cumulus Tropicalus!
Coldfire first released this citrus and stone-fruit beauty last fall and it sold out lickety-split. It’s quickly become the brewery’s most popular draft-only beer -- and once they started canning, locals clamored for it in droves. Luckily we pried away a few cases to share with the rest of the country!
With super ripe peach and papaya notes from juicy Mosaic Hops and just a smidgen of bitterness on the tail end from Centennial and Columbus Hops, this hazy orange brew mixes tropical flavors with New England haze-style. A plush mouthfeel lifts even the most sun-starved drinkers out of those rainy Eugene days.
Coldfire has already earned a GABF medal even as a relative newcomer to the craft scene. Keep your eye on this brewery: by bringing Cumulus Tropicalus to thirsty NW hazy seekers, they are making their own name among the New England-style IPA giants.
