Collaboration Series: Confession Sour Ale
A Note on This Beer
The Sour Ale is a playground for wildly delicious experimentation, and today’s brew from the famed Bruery Terreux takes this style into a brave new world: From the hopfields, into the vineyard, here comes Confession Sour Ale.
Infused with the citrusy and peach-like juices of California Riesling grapes, this Sour is a true meeting of two craft worlds. Not quite beer, not quite wine, Confession is an elegant, 9.4% ABV journey that cements The Bruery’s reputation as a flavor-making superpower.
Collaborating with one of California’s most beloved winemakers, Fess Parker Winery, The Bruery takes an oak-aged Sour Blonde Ale and blends it with Parker’s Riesling grapes. They then ferment the two together, intricately meshing flavors of Bosc pear nectar and the tart pucker of apples into Champagne-like brilliance. Wild yeast comes into play throughout, injecting lemon zest character and a peppery, slightly funk to the crispy zing of the finish.
The Bruery is one of the most boldest innovators of Sour Ales in the entire craft world, and their success led to the creation of the Bruery Terreux - a Wild and Sour-only brewhouse dedicated to infusing these styles with their own brand of creative adventure.
