The Ale Apothecary
A Note on This Beer
When it comes to Wild Ales, you won’t find a catalogue with a bigger cult following than Oregon’s The Ale Apothecary.
These folks live and breathe the best of barrel-aged beers and every brew in their arsenal is meticulously handcrafted. Getting your hands on any one of their 4+ UT rated brews will put you in exclusive craft territory only a lucky few have experienced!
Each tart and funky treat is aged and fermented in 100% wood vessels with only ingredients obtained from the surrounding Oregon terroir. The brewers rely solely on the fruits of the land and the sweat of their brow — no fancy gimmicks needed.
These elusive brews are doggedly pursued in trade forums and bottle exchanges everywhere. Because every release is so small-batch, those bottles are gone in the blink of an eye!
But today, we’ve locked down a stash of the brewery’s extremely limited Blackberry Vamanos Barrel-Aged Sour — a rare treat that has earned a massive 4.36 on UT from the lucky few who have tried it!
Stuffed with 100 pounds of homegrown blackberries, the brew is aged in a variety of red wine and cognac barrels. The resulting ruby-hued brew is mouth-puckeringly tart and drips with notes of spiced honey and freshly juiced berries.
You have to taste it to believe it. And then you'll join the Wild Ale elite who jump at every change to taste The Ale Apothecary.
