Barrel of Love (2016)
A Note on This Beer
One of the rising stars of Belgian Ale craft, Adelbert’s Brewery meshes lavishly dark-fruited Belgian Ales with locally distilled, top-shelf liquor barrels to win GABF Gold.
Aged in Texas whiskey barrels and dripping with figgy, spicy, 11% ABV complexity, their Barrel of Love Quad showcases their barrel-aging gusto. And today, we’re bringing you the 2016 vintage of this limited edition brew:
Barrel of Love flourishes with flavors of powdered sugar plums drenched in bourbon caramel sauce. To reach this depth of flavor, Adelbert’s brings their Quad into whiskey barrels from Texas’ acclaimed Treaty Oak Distilling. The Belgian base’s dulce de leche sweetness and dark fruity Trappist yeast blends with the oak’s vanilla and spice for a world-class, St Bernardus-like richness.
Taken from their award-winning Vintage Series, Adelbert’s Barrel of Love is case in point of this brewery’s undying passion, and obvious talent, for all things barrel-aged.
We’ve tried cellaring this brew and the boozy heat mellowed, allowing the body to flow like smooth aged French Brandy. We suggest getting two and saving one for the ultimate cellared Quad tasting experience.
