About This Beer
Schilling crafted this German-inspired Schwarzbier with Alder smoked malt from Blue Ox Malthouse in Lisbon Falls, Maine.
Tasting Notes
Those specialty malts create an intricate smokiness that weaves through the crisp sip. Underneath, hints of dark chocolate and roasty coffee combine with a touch of toffee, leading the palate to a snappy finish accentuated by noble hop nuances.

Opaque, dark brown pour, small foamy sand colored head. A hint of smoke hits at the opening of the can, light roast and subtle chocolate notes. Taste is all about the smoke, ashy, smoky, roasty, with some mild sweet chocolate notes. Light smoky bitterness lingers. So delicious!

Campfire aroma, creamy head, cocoa and roasted coffee bean tastes, crisp, and a smoked malt finish with a hint of hops.

Big smoky malt aroma and flavor. Light dark chocolate and coffee hints underneath. This should definitely be categorized as a Smoked Lager; not a Schwarzbier. Fairly light bodied with a big smoky finish.
