A Note on This Beer
According to legend, German monks started brewing Doppelbock Lagers way back in the 16th century as a form of “liquid bread” to tide them over during their long fasting periods.
Which means they never found out how well this stuff pairs with a meal! What a shame!
Fortunately, you are not a monk, so you can fire up the oven, crack open a can of Xuul Doppelbock from Oliphant Brewing, and enjoy its bread crust and honey flavors alongside whatever you want. Notes of dark fruit and a touch of caramel will really set off the sear on a steak, while hints of earthy spice go beautifully with roasted veggies or risotto.
No matter what you’re craving, we recommend eating something with this brew — that sneaky 8% ABV is liable to lead to an early bedtime if you drink it on an empty stomach.
So crack one open with a holiday meal — or just order a pizza, if that’s more your speed. This amped-up Lager pairs beautifully with just about anything!
