A Note on This Beer
Don’t worry — no whales were harmed in the making of this incredible Stout.
Though I would totally consider taking up whaling if it meant hauling in bottles of Whale Batter. Can you blame me considering the whole series boasts an average 4.47-rating on Untappd?
And the Hidden Springs crew somehow keeps making each new iteration better and better!
For this one, they started with an Imperial Sweet Stout aged for over three years in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels! They conditioned it with house-roasted macadamia nuts and house-toasted coconut then gave it a dose of vanilla plus a boatload of marshmallows for decadently rich desserty tones.
Every dark, sumptuously thick pour spouts enticing aromas of macadamia mocha and vanilla oak. On the swig, velvety ‘mallow surfaces with hints of colada cream. Caramelly date and cocoa-covered raisin notes swim underneath, melting into nuances of woody spice on the tail end.
Careful though — a leviathan 12% ABV glides through these depths!
If you’re a regular Captain Ahab scouring the seas for sensational Stouts, you’ve found your white whale. This beauty is sure to make a splash when you share it with your friends for dessert or bring it to the bottle share. If you share any at all, that is!
This vintage is too new for scores, but the whole Whale Batter series boasts an average 4.47 UT-rating!
