A little two sweet. Yes I know it’s a barleywine but more barrel would have been welcomed
Oak, bourbon, sweet, toffee, caramel
Fantastic, bourbon and smooth rich caramel.
Wendigo is what you say when you drink it
In their element
Caramel, toffee prune not bad, little thin
Ahhhhh mayzingness. Who makes a better Bwizzle? I'll wait...
One of the best barleywines I’ve ever had
Incredible. Anchorage Brewing doesn’t miss
This is a super sweet barley wine with a lot of interesting notes. While its sweetness, even after it warmed up, was a bit too over powering for me, it has some very well done oaky/woody notes and a good subtle barrel character to it.
Very good, drinks like a stout
Caramel, toffee and raisins, a little too sweet
Perfect. Sweet with nice barrel presence.
Solid. Would buy again
Sweet nectar of the gods
Amazing, one of my favorites
Really good, solid barleywine
The absolute best black barleywine I have ever had.
This game sucks, so let's get F'd up. This big, thick, sticky BW is complex with subtle notes of cinnamon, caramel and some boozie brown sugar and chocolate.
Trying to get the wax to glow though...
Does anyone do barleywines better than Anchorage?
Thick and sweet with aroma and flavors of sticky caramel, milk chocolate, raisins, figs, leather, vanilla, molasses, oak and bourbon. So gooooood!
Glows in the dark lol
Surprised everyone as best Bwine of the night.
Life at its finest.
ABC just knows how to make bw.
Very good but need to share. Quite sweet. Great dessert drink.
Wonderful, dark fruit balanced by caramel sweetness
One of the best Barleywine. Ever
Non adjunct BA anchorage barley wine are some of my favorites. This is amazing
Barleywine is life
IMHO, almost as good as A Deal With the Devil. Incredible job on this one. Toffee, caramel, raisins, and barrel.
Such a treat of a BW. That barrel>
Holy crap, this is incredible. So thick and rich. Definitely sweet, but not an overly lingering, sappy sweet. Balanced. Caramel, rich bourbon and a hint of coconut that was so tasty. Love this beer
Not bad! A little syrupy!
Awesome barley wine!
Pretty boozy. A bit too sweet.
Good mother of god this is fire! Nose was big time sweet bourbon, toffee, vanilla, tobacco, caramel and subtle coconut. Taste matched but with some graham cracker notes. Full body with a slick and viscous feel. Long finish. Warms the belly, amazing BA barelywine.
Super amazing b-wine
Very well done.
Rich and sweet, boozy but smooth. Very delicious
Too sweet the first time around but liked the second bottle more after it sat a bit
A bit sweeter than I expected, but still delicious. Anchorage does an amazing job with their barrel program
Solid. The pecans add a different aroma and flavor. Still a legit BW!
I'm speechless when it comes to these rare 12 oz gems. The gods at Anchorage did it again with this beer showcasing the complexity of the darkness, blended with bourbon and plum/molasses flavors. The alcohol is well hidden for the ABV this beer boasts. Definitely a sipper, but you could honestly pour this over vanilla bean ice cream and die afterwards. And the fact the wax glows in the dark.......priceless!
Sold on Anchorage. The barrel perfectly balances out the sweetness. More stout like that BW
Lots of barrel and very sweet
It’s sweet but in a good way. A really good way. The best barleywine I’ve had.
Never had a barleywine before, but this was exceptionally smooth and full of flavor.
I'm a barleywine guy, Anchorage is a barleywine brewery, and this is a barleywine barleywine.
Absolutely delicious! I usually don't care for barley wines too much but this one is good! You'll taste the bourbon up front, lightly spiced with a bit of toffee. its sweet and creamy, full body and chewy.
So good 👍
Man this was so smooth, sweet, I didn’t get a lot of dark fruits but more chocolate and barrel. Been really like everything Anchorage has been doing.
The best barleywine I've ever had. That said, is it worth $50 for 12 ounces when other breweries make awesome bba bw's and sell them for $20-25 for a bomber bottle? As a one-time purchase it was worth the experience, but I don't think it offers 4 times as much value.
What Anchorage does best - great BW
Favorite Barleywine to date. Even beats ADWTD
Look: deep, dark mahagony to black. Thin, light espresso colored head the dissipates quickly to a very thin layer of bubbles around the edge of my glass. Some legs, but not much especially considering the abv. Smell: booze, raisins, oak, molasses, whiskey, hint of sweet nuttiness. Taste: Follows the nose. Whiskey, brown sugar, raisins, slight carmel, slight toffee, molasses, oak. Sweet, but not cloying. Booze present but well masked for this big abv. Feel: Full bodied. Low but present carbonation. Syrupy, coats the tongue. Medium to long lasting finish. Chewy, but not the most I have ever had. Overall: First "black barely wine". Fantastic and (emphasis on) complex flavor profile. A little syrupy, but expected for the style. Definitely, a sipper. The entire contents of the bottle probably all I can handle in a single sitting. Overall, just a great damn beer. Expensive, but would buy again.
one of my favorite barley wine ever
Pretty amazing... slightly sweet, but absolutely stellar
thick, smooth, perfect
lovely mixed strong ale
At least it glows
Probably top 3 of the beers I got from Tavour. Great body and amazing barrel.
Boozy, sweet and delicious. Fantastic beer.
Sweet and heavy
What all barleywine should be, barrel forward but smooth and easy to drink, anchorage does no wrong with barleywine
