A Note on This Beer
Ski season is fast approaching and our Colorado friends tell us it’s tradition to bring a can of your favorite brew up on the mountain. But, before you stuff several cans of Copper Kettle’s Well Bred Bourbon Barrel-Aged Barleywine into the pockets of your snow pants, take heed to the following — this brew requires a few precautions:
- Share with friends -- this boozer’s 10.2% ABV comes in a whopping 19oz can. Don’t down the whole brew solo or you’ll be begging ski patrol for a ride back down the mountain.
- Pour into a flask -- Well Bred is aged in Dickel and Breckenridge Bourbon barrels, lending this brew warm whiskey aromas and hints of vanilla and caramel — once opened, you won’t be able to put it down. The flask makes it easy to nip a few sips every time you catch a breath.
- Prepare for a smooth ride — even if your ski skills aren’t up to snuff, oak barrel-aging gives this whisky-soaked Barleywine such a smooth finish, you’ll quickly forget about your bumpy ride down the mountain.
- Enjoy the view — forget skiing, just hop off the lift at the summit, plant your ass in the snow, and crack open a can. Sip on Well Bred’s subtle candied fruit flavors and mild boozy heat as you take in the snowy landscape in front of you.
All warnings aside, Coloradans will still be seen getting off the lifts with cans of Well Bred in their hands. They just know better than to crush cans of this badass brew before dropping down onto the slopes.
