A Note on This Beer
When you get a chance to try one of Charles Towne Fermetory’s “favorite releases of the whole year,” you gotta spring into action!
After all, before Adam Goodwin was whipping up masterful brews like today’s Dark Lager, he was the first head brewer at the legendary Trillium! So when HE says it’s good, we’re inclined to believe him.
The Tmave Pivo (literally “dark beer”) is one of the most popular Czech beers — the style goes back centuries, renowned for its deep flavors and drinkability. To craft their version of the classic, Adam and the Charles Towne brewers kept to tradition, using Czech malts and Czech Saaz Hops for a dark beer that is as deliciously roasty as it is crushable!
Espresso aromas precede the sip, with hints of toffee. Malt notes wash across the palate at the start, with bittersweet cacao blending with a freshly baked rye bread undertone. The finish is lip-smackingly crisp, like a bite into a fresh baked rye chip.
Whether you’re a beer historian looking for a great take on an old style, or just a fan of light yet roasty brews – Tmavè Pivo is built for you!
