A Note on This Beer

Tucked into the verdant lushness of Washington’s Skagit Valley, you’ll find a brewery like no other on earth.

Where the yeast is wild and the fruit is picked by hand. Where every beer is a unique expression of time and place — the essence of the valley itself, bottled and preserved by Garden Path Fermentation.

And like a winding walkway through an actual garden, their brews often lead to unexpected places, inviting you to explore and contemplate new flavors and experiences.

Take The Subtle Blend: Foraged Blackberries. This beer takes you by the hand and gently guides you through nuances of hand-picked blackberries collected from the wetlands surrounding the brewery, traces of wild funk, and hints of oak and bready malts.

But as the name implies, it’s subtle. The brewers add just enough berries to accentuate the Wild Ale base, elevating the fruity notes from local hops, local grains, and a constantly evolving wild yeast culture.

It’s also much drier than you might expect, and not nearly as tart. Because while this beer is naturally fermented in open oak vessels, it only uses wild yeasts from nearby the brewery. And in the Skagit Valley, it rarely gets warm enough for those sour-making microbes to flourish.

Above all else, this beer is incredibly drinkable and intriguingly complex. But it doesn’t give up its secrets easily; it has to be tasted to be understood. Split a bottle with a friend, and explore its subtle layers of flavor.

And then you’ll want to open another. But, if you’d like to meander through this beautiful garden, you have to act fast. We only have 120 bottles of The Subtle Blend: Foraged Blackberries to go around!

Pours a pinkish rose color with a slightly pink head. Aroma of blackberries, funk, honey. Taste is pretty much the same. Blackberries, brett/funkiness, dry honey in the finish. Another great refreshing beer from the incredible brewers at Garden Path. please keep these fine Garden Path beers flowing.
