THE GREAT BLACKSTACK BAKEOFF: BLACKBERRY FRENCH TOAST

Fruity and desert like. Lovely Fruited Sour. Glad I got more than one of these!
Smelled good but tasted like it had been out and about too long almost savory and salty pretty gross dumped it
Overall, the beer tastes great. The sour cuts through the sweetness and I found it a god mix. However, it is thick and 16 oz is way way way way too big of a serving. This should be shared with friends in 4 oz tastings. The lactose takes over at the end and just ruins it.
It literally tasted like French toast. It was very desserty
Sweet sour hint of cinnamon
I tasted the French toast on the first sip but after that the sour took over. Decent fruited sour with hints of cinnamon
Definitely tastes as advertised
Maple is too overpowering
Better if you don’t roll it
So so good!! Definitely more berry than French toast. But you still will get a little maple syrup/cinnamon taste here and there. Loved this one.
Big tart blackberry taste in the front and smooth sweet maple cuts through at the finish. Wish there was more wheat taste to bring it all together.
Wish it had more French toast
Been having a lot of french toast style beers lately, a good one to try
Bad balsamic terps
Terrible balsamic vinegar flavor. Sad because the nose was somewhat pleasant but did not match the actual flavor.
Heavy maple syrup but I’m a big fun of it!! Pours so dark I love it
As far as the "French Toast" goes im not getting any of it. More like just a blackberry fuited sour nothing special.
Strong bitter not sweet
Imagine walking into iHop and ordering a mountain of French toast and you ask the wait staff for the “special”blackberry syrup! It has a sour base initial taste, but is then taken over by the thickness of the fruit, and finishes with heavy syrup overtones.
Gross. Salty and the blackberry is barely there. Will NEVER buy again.
Taste good but was hoping for more of a French toast taste
Reminds me of a blackberry bramble. More like a cocktail than a beer. I loved it!
I feel the maple is a little too much but still goid
This one is gnarly but pretty good. Definitely taste a little syrup and felt like I’m drinking French toast. It’s wild and I like it!
Nauseatingly thick for something so sour. Maybe the fruit in mine went bad? Had an interesting finish - slight maple taste but with a sting on the back end. Not sure if I’d buy again.
Thick and on point for flavor of french toast
Ok. So this one was pretty amazing, but there was no "toast" flavor. I was expecting a "pastry sour" to have notes of oats or burn wheat but none of that. Great beer, but not French Toast...
Berries and maple syrup with a little cinnamon/vanilla in the background, just a little tartness.
Taste nothing like what I imagined.
There’s something off about the French toast. Hard to explain but not pleasant.
Not sure why the average is under a 4 but this is a damn good beer. It definitely tastes like blackberry French toast
Sounded great, but overall was just ok.
Sour maple syrup, not that bad
It’s good. Blackberries on the front, maple on the back, too much citrus/lemon in the middle for me.
Decent. Hints of citrus which wasn’t expected.
Sooooo good! Tasted more pie than French toast but still great!
Delicious! I couldn’t wait to try this one and it didn’t disappoint! Strong tart blackberries upfront with maple French toast im the back. I really enjoyed this a lot wish I had got a few more
Just taste a ton of syrup with little blackberry. Not really one of my favorites.
Maple syrup and blackberries up front with a hint of pastry on the finish. I'll take I'll of my french toast like this, please.
Very blackberry forward with some maple lingering in the background. Maple can be weird for me but this is one of the better beers I’ve had with maple flavor.
Has a lot going on but doesn't really meld together.
Not bad but the heavy maple finish overshadows the blackberry.
Top 3 favorite beers! Don’t sleep on these
Not what I was expecting. I think the maple through it off a bit.
Rich blackberry flavor with that hint of french Toast
Not digging the maple
Maple and sweet AF
Some nice blackberry flavor. A bit too much maple syrup.
Way too acidic for the style
Nice maple finish
I was not a fan at all. Tastes like burnt toast with a ton of maple syrup poured over it. No thank you.
Not bad but not as good as I was expecting
The cinnamon notes were a great touch. A smidge too sour, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Was expecting more from this one. Have a similar sour from burley oak and they didn't disappoint when it came to the blackberry french toast.
Didn’t enjoy this... I got barely any resemblance of French Toast. Way too much Tartness. I’m going to have too pass on this one.
WAY too tart, no French toast taste I could really pick up on.
This sour was off in flavor to me. Too sweet
Breakfast in a can!
I like the blend of flavors
A strong sour to start, as intended. Second, a tart blackberry flavor and a savory, French toast finish. Not my favorite sour but was a nice, desserty sipper after a long day.
So sweet, maple
Definitely tart to kick things off - expected for a sour. Blackberry notes are there. Lingering maple flavor to finish.
super acidic with a light cinnamon note, agree with the top reviews that it tastes heavily of balsamic vinegar, tasted almost rancid, don’t bother
Can’t place it, has a specific flavor that is off putting to my palate…not bad. Just not what was expected.
I thought this was really tasty. The maple was subtle. Much more and I wouldn’t have cared for it as much as I did.
Nicely fruity and tasty! Rich, syrupy, and sweet.
The beer did not exactly match it's description in taste.
