A Note on This Beer
One sip of today’s Straw Barb had me seriously thinking the crew at Brewery Vivant must’ve snuck into my grandma’s house and swiped her strawberry rhubarb pie recipe.
I even called them up to ask how else they could have made it. They told me I was “being crazy” and that they “have no idea what I’m talking about!”
Then, they told me how this fruit-filled brew started out as a triple blend of their House Sour Ale, Foeder-Aged Beer, and Fresh Beer. Once the blend reached the right amount of sourness and body, the brewers crammed it with copious amounts of fresh strawberries and rhubarb.
Every bubbly sip is a juicy-sweet smack of strawberry pie filling balanced with the tartness of real rhubarb!
It turns out Straw Barb is just part of Brewery Vivant’s Unapologetic Fruit series, which highlights famously fruit-tastic pie and jam combos from the Midwest.
But, since you won’t see this limited-release outside of Michigan, right now is the only chance to snag your own slice of this Sour Ale summertime pie!
