A Note on This Beer
Idaho is best known for 3 things:
- Potatoes
- Trout
- Black Gold
I’m not talking about the kind of Black Gold you put in your car’s engine — I’m talking about the Dark Beer deliciousness of Sins of Our Fathers!
This Imperial Stout is a wild ride of roasty decadence from the craft legends at Crooked Fence — the crew that Culture Trip calls one of the 10 Best Breweries in Idaho.
For locals, it’s THE Stout to drink in Idaho, and they’ll tell that to any visiting Dark Beer fan that might be cruising for a boozin’. It even reigns as the #5 Imperial Stout in the State on BeerAdvocate!
Sins’ jet-black pour is loaded with aromas of dark cocoa and roasty coffee with just a hint of dried fruit. The flavor follows closely, with layers of rich chocolate mocha and a glimmering nuance of anise. Complex undertones of char and a soft, chewy mouthfeel completely mask the boozy backbone. It’s no wonder Boise craft fans have been keeping this stuff a secret!
If you’re seeking a bit of Black Gold to enrich your cellar, then seek ye no further. But I’ll advise you to hold onto your potatoes before diving into this one, folks — at a solid 10% ABV, Sins of Our Fathers is a serious doozy of a Dark Beer treat.
But if you think you CAN handle it, then wrangle as many Sins of Our Fathers as your crate can bear! And then, once you’ve got the grizzly guzzler in your arms, call up all your buddies and tell ‘em all about how you’ve just struck a friggin’ black gold mine.
