Single Origin Coffee Stout (Ethiopian Yirgacheffe)
Masthead Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
All this ‘never leaving my house’ business has inspired a few changes in my life. I’ve traded slacks for sweatpants, exchanged happy hour drinks for video chat beer tastings, and I’ve given up coffee in favor of Coffee Stouts.
That’s why I’m so happy to get a stash of today’s Single Origin Coffee Stout (Ethiopian Yirgacheffe). It has all the roasty coffee and dark chocolate flavors I crave, and the 6.9% ABV is juuuuust low enough to justify drinking one first thing in the morning.
Plus, it’s our first ever Stout from Cleveland’s Masthead!
In fact, this is only the 3rd beer we’ve ever shared from this up-and-coming crew. The first two were both IPAs, and you guys loved them — you rated them both 4+ on Tavour!
Now, it’s time to find out why BeerAdvocate named Masthead one of the Top 50 New Breweries on the Continent with a deep dive into their darkside!
When you submerge your taste buds in this richly roasty brew, you might feel like trading your coffee for a cup of Stout, just like me. It overflows with espresso aromas, and pours smooth and creamy, just like a pint off the fancy tap at your local bar.
Pour it hard into a glass, and it’ll froth up like something from a high-end cafe. But, you don’t have to change out of your sweatpants to get this one.
