About This Beer
To craft Shadow Game IV, the brewers started by loading a roasty Stout with habanero chili, cinnamon, vanilla, and cacao nibs. Then, the Sori crew aged the brew in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for depths of oaky vanilla and woody spice.
Tasting Notes
Inspired by Mexican chocolate cake, this Imperial Stout is packed with chocolatey depth balanced by chili pepper heat and roasty cinnamon. It’s bourbon barrel aged, adding a rich complexity.

Very pleased with the overall cakey-ness of this. Definitely loved the bourbon notes as well. Could’ve done without the spicy although it wasn’t too in your face about it which I enjoyed.

This was a lot better as I drank it.
I've had spicy beers before, but for some reason this hit me bad initially. After about five minutes though, I was going back for that spicey chocolate every 30 seconds.
Definitely worth it.

Spices and vanilla flavor. Not much barrel, but has nice mild alcohol heat and medium body.

Bourboney and spicy, specifically spicy on the finish. Enjoyed it. The alcohol content sneaks up on you and is not in your face.

I don't really remember drinking this which means it must have at least been okay. I remember the bad ones well.

Very tasty stout with just the right amount of heat, balanced by cacao and bourbon. Comparable to similar offerings from Fremont and Abraxas (Perennial). Nice to have something here from Estonia as well, for variety.

I normally love a strong bourbon presence but it’s a bit strong in this one…to the point where I do get get anything but bourbon and some spicy notes…no chocolate at all.

I definitely get the cinnamon and I get just enough tingle from the habanero. Combine that with very smooth feel and very little barrel and this is extremely enjoyable

Superb! Perfect spiced level that served as a nice balance to the barrel notes. Medium level of heat that mellowed out with all the swirling chocolate.

a weird metallic taste lingered on this for me, preferred the vanilla variant sadly.

REALLY good imperial stout. Strong notes of cinnamon and vanilla up front, that mellows out to a smooth heat from the habanero. The heat is there, but not very prevalent. Quite tasty!
