Not a fan of port barrel-aged beers, but also aging in bourbon barrels balances out the port characteristics. Very interesting!
Delicious! Would buy again
This was perfect! That’s it. Perfect!
Not bad Arctic wolf was better
Nice and strong
Please treat this as a wine, it will change the flavor just a bit and release some great surprises.
A top tier BA barleywine. Criminally underrated in my opinion.
About 6 months old, spot on sweet toffee/caramel type BA EBW flavors, although just slightly hot - should be even better with a year or two on it.
Loved the booze was of this barleywine. Definitely will keep Drake’s in mind for future purchases.
Good barleywine EXCEPT: Strong suggestion to skip the annoying red wax seal all over the bottle cap. It’s time consuming and hard to open, with high risk of dropping the bottle. Which is why I don’t buy Maker’s Mark bourbon. The wax bottle seal cap is a cheesy unwanted marketing gimmick and I hate it. I’m super cereal.
All shaft no balls
Quite bourbony, boozy
Flavor is of rich molasses, plum, cherry, leather, tobacco, bourbon, oak, and maple. Very boozy, rich, slow sipper of a beer. A small bottle lasts the night. The flavor is really pleasantly balanced and avoids being cloying and overbearing. Extremely pleasant and something I would love to get more of for cellaring.
