A Note on This Beer

Woohoo! We finally get to share Stoup Brewing with you folks!

Stoup is BIG here in Seattle. Launched in 2013 by husband-and-wife Lara Zahaba and Brad Benson, along with their friend Robyn Schumaker, the Stoup crew’s love of beer chemistry and focus on achieving excellence in every batch has made them one of the frontrunners in Ballard, the city’s brewing district.

It’s not just us locals doing the raving though. Between Eater, Timeout, Thrillist, and Condé Nast Traveler, Stoup is one of the Best Breweries in the city!

For your overdue introduction, we present their supremely sippable, ultra-lush Sandals & Flannels IPA.

The brewers say they just couldn’t help packing this Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy-hopped hazy quencher with the “brightest, citrusiest, peachiest, passionfruitiest” flavors they could coax out.

Hey, we get it. When you live in rainy-gray Seattle, this time of year beckons for a tropical escape!

One sip, and you’ll likely wonder why it took us so long to share Stoup’s hopbombs with you in the first place. The truth is, before 2020, Stoup didn’t do much canning, much less send their brews outside of Washington. So, if today’s stash is any indicator, 2021 is looking bright and juicy.

*This is the first time Stoup’s brews are venturing outside of the Pacific Northwest!

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Not a whole lot going on here. Not a lot of character, a little on the sweet side and slightly unbalanced. If someone put it in front of me, I’d drink it just fine, but I wouldn’t seek this out again.

Not very hazy. Has a nice smell but not as juicy as it smells.

Decent IPA. Not overpowering but, not as flavorful as my favorites. Would have this again.

Daily Corona battle. And now we work edition. This is berry sweet and hazy, classic combo with bursts of peach and a finish of earthy dankness.

More bitter than I’d expect, but good! Missed the opportunity to wear my sandals & flannel while imbibing... damn.

+1 on not a lot going on. Some fruit on the front, followed by mild dank and bitterness but ends with kind of a watery finish. Easy to drink, and pretty enjoyable but overall not all that interesting. Something like a neipa crossed with a lawnmower beer.

Flavor of sweet citrus fruit, herbal tea, zest, and earthy hops over bready malts. A solid, drinkable NEIPA. Very tasty and smooth. This style remains crowded and this beer doesn't really stand out so that's the only bad thing I have to say about it. Along with hundreds of other very good NEIPAs, this is another one I would totally drink more of if it was the one in front of me.

This is a pretty average beer. Nothing too negative, but nothing to write home about either. Compared to other hazy IPAs, this one is substantially less hazy but also too sweet. More hops are needed both for bittering and for flavor. Notes of stone fruit and melon up front with a clean, syrupy finish and little bitterness. The malts used are a touch heavy for this beer, but would be fine with more hop flavor and bitterness. On the positive side, the mouthfeel is spectacular, with just the right viscosity and carbonation levels.

Smooth. Orange superiority. Highly suggest cooking up some bell peppers/ onions on a skillet with this beer. Perfect mix.

Not what I consider hazy, but it is solid. I can definitely put a few of these back in a sitting. And yes, I’d like another.

Not as 'New Englandy' as I had hoped, but still a solid brew. Sandals and flannels weather is the best weather.

Not a fan of IPAs, but this one was a winner! Light and citrusy with just enough hops to keep me in the game. A good start to Friday night!

Flavor wasn't particularly exciting (nothing negative about it though), but the texture was near perfect. Light and pillowy, like. NEIPA should be.
