A Note on This Beer
Barrier’s latest Suburb Series IPA is a juicebomb so unique we want every last Tavour user and their friends to try it! It’s made with 100% Nelson Sauvin Hops!
Not familiar with Nelson Sauvin? Get acquainted this spring with today's crisp, hazy and bracingly juicy Suburb-Nelson! You’ll notice this IPA bursting with fresh white grape, gooseberry and floral flavors not found elsewhere!
Barrier doesn’t normally sell outside New York, so holding a can of Suburb-Nelson is like cradling a small unicorn.
Make that a double-horned unicorn, because only a small handful of craft breweries like Other Half, Hill Farmstead and Great Notion dare to even use Nelson Sauvin hops!
Why, you ask? For a couple reasons:
- Nelson Sauvin hops grow in volcanic-rich New Zealand soil and have flavors and aromas that can be challenging to control.
- They’re pricier and harder to find than most hops.
The Suburb-Nelson reminds us why Barrier beat out Mikkeller to win 2019’s Best Brews of New York competition! When they put a full dose of Nelson-Sauvin in their latest Single Hopped brew, you’re damn right they mastered it.
It starts with an intoxicating bouquet of fresh cut flowers, sweet white grapefruit, and lychee. One sip mellows into a delightfully smooth blend of grape, crushed gooseberry and a touch of citrus. With that crushable 7.6% ABV, you’ll want to stock up on a few of these for those warm spring afternoons.
Just be wary of drinking this one in groups — once your buddies get a taste, they’ll want their own afternoon unicorns. And once our tiny stash is gone, this brew will fade into myth.
