A Note on This Beer
The Sour gods have answered your prayers -- tart and dark fruity Ragnarok is here! The 2x North American Beer Award winning Sour and wood-aging experts at Idaho’s Barbarian have raided a mighty stash of liquor and wine barrels for this peach-infused Red Sour: aging it Bourbon, Cabernet, Malbec and Syrah!
Aged 14 months in oak then loaded with 220 pounds of real peach puree, this 7% ABV Sour doesn’t taste like the end of the world -- it’s a rapturous tart assault of dark fruits, vanilla, and a nectarous twist of peaches.
As the Red Sour base ages in Bourbon, it’s infused with smooth vanilla and hints of clove spice. Cabernet brings subtle elements of fruity tobacco, Malbec delivers black cherries, and Syrah tops-it-off with hints of marionberry and peppercorns. The peaches round out the finish, matching the zesty pucker with an elegant, subtle nectar sweetness.
Alongside their fresh Gold wins at NABA, Barbarian is gaining love throughout the Northwest with their barrel-centric, yet playfully elegant Sour Ales. The Idaho Tourism Department even calls them out as an essential craft beer stop. But if you can’t make it to Idaho, you can still drink this deeply fruity Sour available for the first time outside the region.
We recommend serving it in a tulip glass -- or a buffalo beer horn if you have it.
