About This Beer
Mortalis brewed this luscious DIPA in celebration of the New York Grape Festival held in Naples, NY. They started with a pillowy base hopped with a cluster of Galaxy and Nelson for some fruity, white grape like nuances. Then they conditioned it on actual fresh white Niagara grape juice for a sip that’d make Welch’s weep.
Tasting Notes
Every pale golden pour erupts with aromas that could’ve come straight from a vineyard. Nuances of juicy gooseberry, drippy peach, and gorgeous white wine burst out of every drop, with cool white grape carrying on the end.

poor use of grapes—too sweet

Greek God celestial offering meets your favorite White Sangria. Grapes slap your face in a distracting way and the IPA part gets lost. Hmmm… maybe when I need a shandy or sweating balls but neither of those things happening currently. Whoops!

I like the hops but the grape juice is extremely sweet

Juicy hops but not a lot of grape character. Medium bodied with little-no bitterness.

A bit flat and the flavors don't mingle well.

Aroma is replete with Welch’s white grape juice, in addition to ripe, juicy, and drippy peach. The body and finish, though, are remarkably dry and white wine-like, but with a gentle sweetness and tempered bitterness to keep you coming back for more.

gotta love something different! this is a tasty crisp white wine style IPA. yes, the hops get a bit lost but this certainly makes for an exciting try.
