A Note on This Beer
I remember when I first learned the phrase “à la mode.”
I was about eight years old, at the first birthday party where I’d ever seen pie served instead of cake. Initially I was outraged, but then someone handed me a bowl of peach pie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and told me “it’s peach pie à la mode — that means ‘with ice cream!’”
All of us kids kept saying ‘à la mode this’ and ‘à la mode that’ all day long. Any time someone asked if we wanted anything, we’d say, “yes, we want it à la mode!”
I never lost my craving for adding ice cream to things, but I hadn’t said “à la mode” with such childish enthusiasm for years until I tried today’s Peaches Sour à La Mode collaboration from Untitled Art and Corporate Ladder.
These brewers came together and outdid the sweet and creamy stone fruit pie and ice cream combo with this new Dessert Fruited Sour! To make it, they added copious amounts of peaches, apricots, cinnamon, and graham crackers!
And, even better than the original dessert, they topped off this brew with a buzz-worthy 6% ABV.
Now, I can get my à la mode flavors in a brew for grown-ups, and maybe I’ll finally stop asking for a scoop of ice cream to be added to everything else I’m offered.
