A Note on This Beer

Traditionally, brewers add a bit of sea salt to a Gose-style beer, giving it a touch of refreshing minerality. The brewers at Libertine take that a step further.

They infused today’s Pacific Ocean Blue Barrel-Aged Gose with seawater from the Pacific Ocean, amping up its fruity tartness to new heights of elegantly funked-out complexity!

And, they didn’t stop there. This dexterous crew barrel-aged their Pacific Ocean Blue Gose in French Oak to punctuate its lemony tartness with a sophisticated, woody edge. Wild cultures captured in their coolship enhance this tart style, amplifying its already one-of-a-kind quality.

Bright aromas of orange zest and ripe peaches leap from your glass, accentuated by a sprinkle of sea salt. White wine minerality, a touch of lemon pepper, and wisps of oak balance out a lean, wheat cracker-like finish.

Needless to say, this ain’t your average Gose! It’s a sessionable treat for Sour fans, and an approachable, tart sipper for those venturing into the world of Sours.

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. The Libertine Brewing Company is certified independent by the Brewers Association

has some funk to it. not too sour. little bit of salt air refreshment, they certainly didn't go too overboard with it. it's not bad, but it's nothing super special in terms of the gueze style. the funk is too mild and one dimensional. maybe a little bit more aging would have done it better? haed to say, im not sure how long it was aged in foeders.

I really enjoyed the sea salt lingering taste that added to the crisp bite.

everything a Gose should be. only complaint is lack of barrel presence, but maybe this style doesn’t lend itself to the barrel.

the salty water taste that is front and center but not overpowering is what catapults this beer to lofty heights.

Mild tartness. Bright, refreshing salinity. Lacking the funk or depth of flavor of most barrel-aged beers, but a great gose nonetheless.
