Rahr & Sons Brewing Co.
A Note on This Beer
You may have heard Munich’s Oktoberfest is, once again, canceled this year. But, go ahead and whip out your beer stein anyway — we’ve got you covered!
See, the brewers at Rahr & Sons are renowned for their own Oktoberfest celebrations, particularly when it comes to their seasonal Marzen-style Lager. While you’d normally have to go to their Texas brewery and run their annual Bavarian-themed 5k for a straight shot at their Oktoberfest brew, we’ve got a stash of the 2021 release right here.
Time to break out the lederhosen! Rahr & Sons crafts this Marzen in the traditional style, layering it with malty sweetness and rich flavors of toasted biscuit and caramel. Noble Hops give Oktoberfest just a whisper of floral notes on its smooth finish.
If you think it’s still a little too early to start stocking up on the festbiers, keep in mind that the real Oktoberfest starts in September. Besides, this seasonal release is super limited, and Rahr & Sons brews don’t often leave Texas as it is!
Ready to create your own biergarten at home? Prost!

Malty Marzen goodness with a little hop kick for bitterness. Real tasty, much better than its rating here suggests.
Pretty good for 1st beer of the season.
A really good Oktoberfest
An excellent example of the Marzen style. One of the best domestic Oktoberfests I've had.
Very solid Oktoberfest beer. One of the best of 2020. Great color too.
Good Oktoberfest, nothing special
Buy Und I buy!
Solid Oktoberfest beer
Decent attempt. The standard finish caramel note has a bit of an odd taste for a Marzen.
A fine Oktoberfest marzen. Lots of 🍞
Toasty and malty. Yum!! Octoberfest at it's best. Not dissatisfied with anything about this
I'm just a fan of any Octoberfest
Wonderfully balanced malt sweetness with a touch of Carmel and toasty flavor. Hops on the end don’t add bitterness. Solid Oktoberfest.
Tarnation! That’s one Texas-sized Märzen, I tell you what. It drinks like a normal Märzen that’s had a slug of whiskey poured into it.
this was not very good
Tastes like a good fall Oktoberfest beer
Overall good Oktoberfest. I’ve had better
A very decent Oktoberfest.
Party in my mouth
bad can, half full, completely flat, smelled like pumpkin spice. Did not chance drinking it.
Solid Oktoberfest beer.
Sweet, smooth slight Carmel flavor but a hoppy sensation there at the end.
Malty and bready, hints of biscuit, banana and clove. Hops are almost transparent, highlighting the malt above all else. Finishes lightly dry and sweet, not a hint of bitterness to be found. Yum!!
For me, a bit strong on the finish with the earthy/woody hop bitterness for an O'fest Märzen, but still enjoyed it. Liked the "Prost y'all!" slogan on the can.
thick and delicious
I really enjoy Oktoberfest beers and this one was so good. I drank 3 in a sitting. Not heavy, very light and enjoyable.
Drinkable but not my favorite. I love Octoberfest but this was only okay
Nothing mind-blowing, but a great toasty, malty, easy-drinking Oktoberfest. No complaints.
Rich caramel malt, good body, creamy head and lacing. The caramel/malt is very rich. This is an outstanding American Marzen. Prost!
It was an ok beer nothing special but I definitely would drink it again.
it’s okay. your typical Oktoberfest beer
beautiful marzen! notes of allspice, honey clover and cedar-like aromatics!
refreshing. pretty good .
