This one was a challenge to finish, but like a rich, decadent dessert, it was a challenge gladly accepted. One of the most intense stouts I’ve ever had, and I loved every sip. Pain and pleasure — indivisible.
Coffee and nutty with heavy bite at end
Good smooth. What I expected. Not disappointed. 12% for sure
Very smooth, great tasting, not to bitter.
Amazing job hiding the 12%, smooth as can be
Really strong coffee initially. Becomes more balanced as it warms and the chocolate and molasses comes through. Smokey and bitter on the back end. Not the best Adroit Russian I have had.
i expected a lot more very bland
Doc, this beer is heavy. This beer could fortify me against a Russian winter. This is closer to bread than beer. I like a good stout, but I didn't realize beer could be closer to a solid than a liquid. I felt full after drinking half of it. This is the darkest beer I've ever drank.
Not a porter fan personally, but the 12% really was what made me try. Very heavy chocolate and coffee type flavor. But compared to what other people were saying, I didn’t find it overly heavy or too dark.
Thick, chewey espresso brownies.
Smooth and delicious!
Strong coffee like taste to it complimented great with chocolate
Not great imo
Very heavy and very smooth. Good chocolate and coffee notes and not overwhelming.
One of the best stouts I’ve had. Chocolatey and coffee in nature. Really smooth.
Too smooth for 12% ABV
Chocolate, roasted coffee. Great.
Something deep, dark, and enveloping to chase the cold away.
Awesome. Chocolatey, smooth and strong.
Really decent RIS. Sightly smoky, but not in a bad way.
Nice R.I.S. Not too bitter.
12%?? tasted too smooth for that
Very good imperial stout. It was a little too highly carbonated for an RIS in my opinion but the roast character and maltiness were delicious.
Hooked after the first sip! Nice big roasted malt flavor with noticeable notes of bitter dark chocolate mixed into black coffee. There's a very minute sweetness which I'm assuming is coming from the malt. And it's so damn SMOOTH I also had Día de los Muertos from Adroit in my crate but this one's just slightly that much better. The taste of this one is perfect for me. Guess that 1.7% ABV difference between them really does a lot!
Delicious- Roasty, with slight Smokiness- Pleasant Bitterness
Decent RIS, but a tad smoky for me
This is close to perfection. Dark, thick, rich, creamy. How you can hide 12 ABV is a mystery.
A solid Russian imperial stout, with very toasty notes. Very drinkable.
good strong stout. no complaints
Good, clean, dry. Nice!
Toasty and roasty with some bitterness
Incrediblely smooth for such high ABV. Yum!
Chocolate, caramel, not boozy, but the nouthfeel reminds you it's boozy. Not bad, but not terrific.
very solid RIS.
Pretty typical. Good but unremarkable.
Well done Russian imperial w/o adjuncts. Opens up nicely as it gets closer to room temperature.
This is an amazing stout with a lot going on. Robust, semi-bitter chocolate linger on palette with subtle coffee and caramel on the back burner. As others have pointed out, let this bad boy warm a bit but not too much.
Better than expected, roasty scares me off but this was pleasant!
