A Note on This Beer
Today, we’ve got a pair of Hazies brewed with hops you’ve likely never tried — from a brewery you’ve probably never heard of!
The brewery is The Ferndale Project — the new experimental arm of Eastern Market Brewing that opened just one year ago. PorchDrinking.com already praises this crew as one of the Best New Breweries in the Mitten State! They even have a crazy-high 4.17 brewery rating on Untappd!
And, if you want to find out what makes their haze so unique, just check out this juicy duo:
First up, we have Solo Copper, an Imperial New England IPA brewed with 100% Michigan Grown Copper Hops! If you’ve never tried a beer made with Michigan hops, you might be feeling a little skeptical — but there’s no reason to doubt the deliciousness; this brew comes with an eye-catching 4.26 UT score!
Fans can’t stop sipping the juicy, pineapple-meets-passionfruit flavors in this brew. It’s delightfully juicy, but a thicket of resinous pine on the finish keeps it balanced and dry, with lingering notes of pithy grapefruit. This brew might smell like a tropical smoothie, but as the brewers say, it’s “pure Michigan!”
Next, take your tastebuds on a journey through the real-life Middle Earth with My Precious. This 4.22 UT-rated Imperial juicebomb features a trio of New Zealand grown cones, including Nelson Sauvin, Rakau, and rarely seen Kohatu Hops!
Open the can, and a typhoon of ripe mango and bright pineapple aromas come gusting out. Take a sip, and this tropical tempest surges across the palate with notes of papaya, lychee, and tangy tangerine. One taste, and you’ll want to keep this treasure all to yourself, just like the one ring.
If you’re a hophead, this is an exceedingly rare opportunity to try some rarely seen hops from this beloved new brewery.

For an IPA, it was pretty good. It’s not too hoppy.
Great. Would buy beers from this brewery again.
Pillowy mouth feel. Tangy and resiny hops. Huge hop flavor. Tasting some tropical notes but not hitting on the lychee.
Love the can, and it tastes good too!
Loved this one! Great balance, and especially enjoyed the finish. Not over-fruited, right amount of hop.
Good beer. Not as hoppy as I like my IPA’s
This was really nicely balanced and delicious
Tasty beer! Love the name!
Was hoping this was better but there’s a taste I can’t describe that I didn’t care for.
This is a picture of an everyday DIPA. Well balanced, pineapple nose, juicy palate, long solid finish, but not sticky sweet like summer of this style.
Love! Perfect NEIPA
Daily corona battle. Saturday rager lololol edition. This is terrific and summery, tropical and juicy. Pineapple and peachy sweet without being DIPA sticky. A flavorful and crushable porch delight.
Nice hazy, tropical, juicy, good beer
The Dark Lord will be looking for this!!! But We wants it! We needs it!
Hop smoothie. My favorite neipa ive gotten from Tavour.
Fruity hoppy amazing
Thick but not overly sweet. Great bitterness.
Lighter than its counter part Solo... not as intense but def smooth And clean with a good hoppy fruit finish
Solid haze, not real dry and juicy
Super good (and cool can)
Ferndale project rules!
Nice combo of hops that stand out more with the double dry hop. 🍻
Very smooth with a slight bitter ending. Resiny but delicious
Lovely hops !
Really liked this one.
Enjoyed this very much, I think maybe even more than the solo copper
OK...liking this, but it's weird. Never got a strawberry flavor from this type of beer! My taste buds are scrambled, but enjoying it for some weird reason...
Tropical hoppy nose. Pours hazy golden w/decent head. Smooth mouthfeel. Hoppy on the palate w/pineapple, melon, tangerine & grapefruit. A hint of sweetness & tartness leading up to low-moderate bitterness at finish. Definitely notice the 8.4ABV as well.
Can't believe how good this is.
Great balance . Great way to start the weekend !!!
Good solid beer. Some earthy and herbal flavors that went great with food.
Not bad. Pretty smooth haze
This was a great beer. The aroma was a burst of tropical fruit salad. The flavors where bold and smooth. The beer did not leave the film on my teeth that I have come to loathe with many examples of this style. Nice example. First experience with Ferndale and looking forward to the next one.
Very unique taste good beer
Not a fan of their beers but this one has a decent taste
Hazy, soft and tropical
Super fresh and tropical. Goes down smooth and easy. Not too hoppy with lots of lychee flavor!
Wonderfully tropical with an emphasis on pineapple, and pillowy soft
Love those New Zealand hops
