The GABF medalists at Temperance Beer Co. help Chicago craft fans weather their Midwestern winters the ol’ fashioned way — by aging their popular Might Meets Right Imperial Stout in Bourbon Barrels and throwing an annual boozed-up release party! 

But this year things got tricky. There was so much demand, Temperance’s canning line actually broke down, and they had to postpone! 

Fans who’d waited all year had to wait even longer to taste the 12.3% ABV Imperial Stout that’d been napping for 9 months in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels!

And since the event was capped at 70 people, those who missed out have thirsted hard ever since. In fact, the ONLY way to guarantee a can was to get one of those release party tickets, or pre-order the beer online for local pick up. 

These tasty Imperial Stouts aren’t even found anywhere outside of the metro area. Which explains why Chowhound calls out Temperance for brewing some of ‘The Best Chicago Beers You’ve Never Heard Of.’

The only exception is Tavour, since we managed to get a special cache of Temperance’s brand-new variant, Might Meets Right Coconut Almond! 

With real toasted coconut and almond additions, this is a liquid candy bar drizzled with chocolate syrup and mocha ganache. You’ll taste the booze, but the Almond Joy-like coating will have you doubting that high 12.3% ABV. 

For the first sips, anyway. Who knows how generous you’ll be feeling by the bottom of this boozy can — better tell everyone beforehand that this Chicago treasure is all yours!
