Fonta Flora Brewery
A Note on This Beer
With each crisp, refreshing sip of today’s Maibock from Fonta Flora, I feel like I’m being whisked away to my college days spent backpacking through Europe.
Back then, my friends and I would wander through villages in southern Germany, sleeping in hostels that had once been medieval castles. Every night, we’d find ourselves sitting in one of the pubs, listening to stories from the locals amid steins of ice cold German Lagers like this one.
Crack open a can, and the aromas of tart Granny Smith apples, bright orange blossoms, and zesty lemons tickle the senses, along with notes of toasted malt and freshly baked bread. The taste follows the nose, enveloping the tongue in a thirst-quenching waterfall of earthy hops. The warmth of the alcohol creeps in towards the end, finishing smooth and pleasantly dry.
Not only does Fonta Flora’s take on this traditional Lager-style beer swim with deliciously authentic flavor, the recipe includes malts grown in the brewery’s own backyard! They partner with local farmers, so all of their malt is straight from the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina.
So, while this Maibock may not be from Munich, it’s made with just as much attention to detail. That means you can bring one along on your backpacking adventures, work excursions, parenting escapades, or whatever life throws your way.

Lots of spring vibes, refreshing but not a go to for me
Tastes like a real deal German maibock, good stuff. I remember drinking a lot of maibock when living in Charlotte, NC must like them!
Very decent beer, I think its flavor profile shined around 50 degrees. I like what they were going for, but it didn't exactly land with me. I'm sure this is some one's favorite though. 3.75
Definitely not what I look for in a lager. Not crisp and clean. Very sweet and finishes with the flavor of broccoli. Not for me.
Smooth and crisp with hints of apple and honey. Great yeast and toasted bread taste afterwards
Really deserving of the floral springtime imagery on the can. Great body, still light.
Not sure what the hell this was
Great malty aroma and flavor.
Malty, Toasty, Unsalted Baked Pretzel
Super roasty maibock from Fonta Flora
Nice & crisp, slightly floral
Nice and smooth, but I wasn’t blown away
Gentle lager aromas with some floral qualities as well. The flavors are very honeyed and floral. A very perfect spring beer to enjoy in a garden.
Light, crisp, clean
Clean, crisp, bready, malt, hints of sweet caramel, with a pinch of lemon.
This was a really good lager. Bready malts, subtly floral hopping. Lovely.
Flora sweetness to the brew.
Just a solid pint. Light notes of orange and lemon follow a smooth first hit, finished up by a nice crisp, sweetness. Can’t say I’ve had a “Maibock” before but this was a nice experience.
Daily corona battle. Long weekend edition. Plenty of lemony miscuity cleanness with sweet caramel and a super clean, sweet finish. Terrific use of the malt sweetness.
Nice, slight malt balanced well with hop. I could drink a pitcher easily
More flavorful than most lagers, definitely smell and taste the Granny Smith apples! Beautiful amber color and medium bodied.
Sweet apple up front smooth back
Floral, green apple, slightly fruity aromas. Smooth, clean, expertly crafted lager. Well-balanced hops compliment the bready, citrusy notes really nicely. Lightly floral and finishes dry, but it’s so satisfying. Really fantastic maibock.
Aroma of lightly sweet malt along with some fruit notes. Toasted malt and light sweetness along with some earthy and spicy notes popping up mid palate.
Wonderful malt aromas and flavor. Balanced bitterness, delicious beer. I’ll have another.
Super drinkable, wish I got more.
Very full flavor. Almost has a breast taste to it.
Bready and malty with a lingering almost astringent finish for a Maibock. Caramel present with lovely mouthfeel.
the nose gives me a ton of honey while it sits with bright but bold apple and orange
pretty good taste
this maibock was better than a maybach. little roasted notes that are honey like. some floral finish.
