LOCAL DREAM UNIVERSE
A Note on This Beer
You know those heart-racing movie moments where all the heroes team up to save the world? Yeah, so that just happened in real life!
Three craft beer titans teamed up to create an unstoppable collab:
- BlackStack Brewing, considered by Hop Culture to be one of the Top 5 Best Craft Breweries in the Twin Cities.
- Modist Brewing, who Beer Connoisseur has heralded as one of the Top 10 Hazy IPA Breweries on the Rise.
- And Fair State Brewing, who brought in an IPA recipe for this collab that snagged a spot as one of The Beer Connoisseur’s 15 Best Beers of 2019.
Each of these Minnesota breweries took a recipe for one of their prolific IPAs and mashed them together to craft Local Dream Universe, a 4.33 UT-rated NEIPA!
This mighty trio used their combined stores of hand-selected Citra, Mosaic, Sultana, Azacca, Amarillo and El Dorado, in the form of both hop pellets and ultra-potent Cryo hops!
The result? A super-hop-charged sipper with the ability to sweep hopheads off their feet with a bright, orange citrusy KAPOW! A spiced pineapple WHAM! And finally, a swift WHIP of evergreen pine!
These brewers might not have your typical comic-book super powers, but they’re basically the Avengers of craft beer. And now, they’ve come together to protect us craft-lovers from the drag of boring IPAs.
Hopefully, your secret superpower is the ability to grab this awesome IPA before it disappears!

Collaboration with Fair State Brewing Cooperative & Modist Brewing Company. Hazed, floral, lemony sniffs, soft, hoppy, bright citrus burst, subtle sweetness, touch of bitterness, balancing oaty maltiness.
Great colab, really enjoying this one. The balance is spot on with super tasty hops. Definitely want another.
They used a ton of different hops in this one but it is still smooth and juicy. The balance between citrus and hops flavors is spot on.
Juicy tropical with a subtle sweetness and light bitterness. Maybe a bit thin but hey, good beer here.
When you save a really good IPA cause you wanna have it for special occasion. 🥴
Not bad with plenty of fruity hop flavor with mild pine. However there is an almost plastic like taste on the back end that I can’t get over.
Nice balance of hops and malt. Very good!
Solid orange and tropical flavors at the front of this with a slight creamy finish. Good flavor as always with blackstack.
One of the better IPAs I’ve had, but I still have yet to get one that really impresses me.
This isn’t bad but is very forgettable crisp smooth very low hop flavor profile just and ok IPA 🍺
It was just ok. I wouldn’t drink it again but I wasn’t excited.
Solid - great collab beer
I really like this, one of the better IPAs I've found on here
Solid IPA. Not too hoppy though. Would like to see more hop flavor. A lot going on.
Solid hop offering from BlackStack. They continue to deliver consistent, tasty IPAs.
Floral, thin body, good, but not great.
Lighter than I expected, this still has a thick feel to it. Topical and slightly sweet. What else would you expect from these 3 breweries? Good beer.
This was a bit old when I tried it, but thought it was still juicy And refreshing.
Tasty but nothing that truly stands out from their other offerings
