A Note on This Beer
Savoring today’s Liquid Swords 2019 Vintage is more memorable than seeing all 10 members of the Wu Tang Clan on stage at once!
- It ain’t nothin’ to funk with because it comes from the newest Farmhouse Ale specialists to join us at Tavour, Maine’s Oxbow Brewing.
- Hop Culture raves, Oxbow have established themselves as one of the most highly regarded and well-respected producers [of Farmhouse Ales] not just in the state, but their whole region!”
- Liquid Swords is the brewery’s Grand Cru; a blend of the finest barrel-aged beers in their barrel room.
- We have less than 200 bottles of today’s 2019 vintage that incorporates a select array of mixed-fermentation Farmhouse Ales aged in red wine and bourbon barrels.
The blend highlights notes of leather, toffee, lemon peel, and pepper with a bright acidity and a dry finish. One sip of these wild flavors can transport you to what Wu Tang would call, “a mental plane to spark the brain.”

It’s just a bit too heavy for a saison. Malty, which is fine if that’s what I’m expecting. But it certainly wasn’t. Not a bad taste, has a definite spice to it, but just...disappointing.
