A Note on This Beer
When Clyde Smith was growing up in the little coastal town of Phoebus, Virginia, he probably never imagined DJs would someday blast tunes in his living room. But, 100 years later, that’s exactly what’s happening at Sly Clyde Ciderworks.
His grandsons, Tim and Doug, harnessed their grandfather’s fun-loving spirit, turned his old house into a taproom, and started producing some of the finest Ciders on the East Coast! One night, you might find a rock band belting out tunes; the next, you could compete in a cornhole tournament.
No matter what’s going on, you can sip incredible Ciders like today’s Lime of the Ancient Mariner.
In true Sly Clyde fashion, they made this one from 100% fresh-pressed Virginia Apples. Then, they added a spritz of real lime and balanced things out with wild heirloom agave nectar.
Put it all together, and you’ve got a crisp, smooth, refreshing sip that’s just begging for a day at the beach. Which is exactly where the locals take it. In fact, so much of this Cider ends up in beach-bound coolers, it’s impossible to find cans except in coastal Virginia and a handful of spots in North Carolina’s outer banks. That’s it.
If you’re heading for the coast, we highly recommend making a little space in the Igloo for this sunny-day Cider. If your closest ‘beach’ is actually a sprinkler on the lawn, well, you’ll need this extra refreshment even more.
Sly Clyde took home two medals from Savor Virginia’s 2020 Readers Choice Awards; they’ve won multiple medals at GLINTCAP, the nation’s most prestigious Cider competition!
