A Note on This Beer
A fruit basket is a classic gift, but I’d much rather receive a basket full of fruity brews!
If you’re like me (or you just know someone who is) today’s ‘edible arrangement’ of four tart, fruit-soaked beers is bound to put a smile on your face. These beers come from some of the country’s very best Sour Ale breweries!
Here’s what you’ll get:
Chonk Pineapple Whip from Drekker Brewing! 7.1% ABV, 1x 16oz Can
Fruited Sour fans from coast to coast scramble to get their mitts on Drekker’s smoothie-thick creations, but there’s never enough to go around. This 4.41 UT-Rated pineapple bomb is no exception!
The brewers loaded it with epic quantities of real pineapple, marshmallows, vanilla ice cream, and a touch of milk sugar, so it tastes like a pineapple popsicle. And you don’t even have to chase down the ice cream truck to get one!
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Gose from Westbrook Brewing! 4.5% ABV, 1x 16oz Can
Westbrook’s Pastry Sours are the stuff of craft beer legend, and this homage to grandma’s favorite pie more than lives up to the hype.
The crew at Westbrook added massive doses of real strawberry and rhubarb, along with baking spices to emulate a fresh-from-the-oven crust. Finally, they topped the whole thing with plenty of vanilla, like a scoop of ice cream melting over the brew’s ultra-smooth finish.
Key Key, Do You Love Me? from Weathered Souls Brewing! 6% ABV 1x 16oz Can
Sticking with the pastry theme, this Berliner-style brew from Hop Culture’s Best Craft Brewery of 2020 drinks like a slice of key lime pie! Just like the actual dessert, it somehow straddles the line between decadently rich and refreshingly tart.
To create it, the Texas brewers used plenty of key limes, along with lactose and vanilla. The kicker? They put stacks of real graham crackers into their mash tun to emulate the flavors of a biscuity crust! Every sip is like a forkful of the classic confection whipped up by a high end bakery.
Ladybirds and Bees from The Rare Barrel! 7% ABV 1x 375ml Bottle
After those pastry beers, you might be in search of a little palate cleanser, and this raspberry lemonade of a brew is just the thing. This oak-aged Golden Sour Ale from The Rare Barrel tastes like it should come with it’s own porch swing!
The Berkeley crew used plenty of Meyer lemons and ripe raspberries to make this Ale, and they shine through every sip! A bit of woody spice accompanies just a touch of funk from wild yeast on the finish.
This holiday season, forget the fruit basket and give a gift that your pals will truly appreciate — beer! Unless, of course, your friends wouldn’t appreciate these rare offerings as much as you. In which case go ahead and drink these delicacies yourself.
Tavour strictly supports independent beer. The Rare Barrel is certified independent by the Brewers Association
