pFriem Family Brewers
A Note on This Beer
Inventive ingredients and flavors are what makes craft beer so special. But let’s be honest — there’s confidence in knowing that the brewers who are doing the experimenting are experts.
That’s why we’re so stoked Oregon’s pFriem Family Brewers tackled today’s Japanese Lager, and packed it with with Shiso plum, wildflowers, and Jasmine rice.
We’ll bet you’ve never tasted another Lager like it. One sip of its rice-base smoothness, tongue-ticklingly tangy stonefruit, and bouquet of floral aromas, and it whisked us off our feet!
In 2019, VinePair named the 2-time GABF Lager Gold Medalists one of the Top 10 Breweries in America! So, we can’t think of anyone who’s more capable of nailing every Lager style out there.
If you’ve never tried a Japanese Lager, it’ll be hard to find a better introduction without actually flying to Japan!

Light and refreshing!
Not too impressed. Tasted like a light beer.
Excellent, somewhat sweet with interesting flavors
You can almost taste the tea on your tongue
Decent. Would be good in a pitcher with some beer.
I think this is better than most Japanese lagers on the market.
Flavor of light citrus, rice, corn, a hint of plum, and a floral finish. This is extremely drinkable. Fighting back the urge to gulp it. Very refreshing, tastes extremely clean. I would drink this all the time if I could.
Fantastic pilsner. Wish I had more.
Delicious floral lager that drinks very smooth and keeps you wanting more.
As delicate as Belgian lace, with whispery soft florality. In its fragile minimalism, this may be the most Japanese beer ever made – and it’s not from Japan. Almost like soft, clean water, in the best possible way.
Uh, this is an elaborate way of saying Budweiser in a fancy bottle. I’m truly upset.
This is tasty. Exactly what I needed tonight.
This style has become one of my favorites. You can always count on pFriem to make any beer flawlessly and this is no exception. A true lager yeast strain with that slightly malty sweet / floral balance I've come to expect from a Japanese lager.
