A Note on This Beer
Do you remember the first time you heard your favorite song? I do.
I was a teenager and “Bohemian Rhapsody” came on the radio. I sat there, listening to the music, taking in the crescendo of emotion as Freddy Mercury yells out “Beelzebub!”
And for weeks after, I couldn’t get that damn song out of my head. I hummed the melody, sang every word, and may have even dressed as ol’ Mr. Mercury for Halloween that year. I was obsessed.
That’s how it felt the first time I tasted today’s pillowy, 4.29 BA rated Is This The Real Life? DDH New England IPA — just the name was enough to make me add it to my list of favorites.
And after one sip, I was so taken with this tropical fruit-drenched dream, I didn’t just move it to the top of my list, I channeled my best Freddy Mercury and wrote a song about it:
Is this a real beer?
Is this just fantasy?
So fresh and hazy
No way its reality
Open the can
Pour into a glass and see
Call me a juicehead, I love those hazy brews
I like juicy fruit, with hidden booze
Dreamy soft, crazy smooth
Layers of ripe mangoes; peachy stonefruit notes on the nose, the nose
Alright, I’m no singer, but crush a few cans of this 7.2% ABV tropical-drenched quencher and I dare you not to dance on a table and burst out into song too!
Pillowy soft and brimming with aromas of guava, passionfruit, and bright citrus, today’s beer is a rockin’ example of what earned Singlecut a spot as one of VinePair’s Best Breweries in NYC! Their palate-quenchers are ranked among New York’s hazy elite — since opening a little over six years ago, they’ve racked up a higher brewery rating than their counterparts at KCBC and Interboro!
But outside the Big Apple, the only place to get this hazy dream is right here on Tavour.
So, even if Queen isn’t your jam, load up on a few cans of Is This The Real Life?. Turn on your favorite record, call up your best would-be bandmates, and dive into the hoppy stylings of these NYC craft masters.
