A Note on This Beer
Nestled in Jackson Hole, WY, Melvin Brewing is a cult destination for hopheads seeking the best IPAs in the world.
Their hop skills are legendary. They’re winners of World Beer Cup and GABF awards, the National Blind-tasting IPA championship, and the highest regarded of all hoppy beer awards - the Alpha King Challenge! Their concentrated hop-drenched brews are among the most lauded, and because of this, among the hardest to find.
We introduce them for the first time in California by diving straight into the resinous, bitter bounty of their GABF Gold winning flagship Melvin IPA.
Potent with aromas and flavors that run the gambit from luxuriant juicy fruit to feral dankness, this might have too much flavor for some people! The Melvin IPA hits with so much hoppy power, you get the impulse to search the glass for glimpses of greenery.
An aromatic mosaic of Murcott Tangerines laced with blueberry skins develops above each glass with caramelized onions lurking below the surface. Sweet, slightly tart mangoes are pushed to the edge of overripeness. Powdery pine resin unfolds on the tongue. Endives spiked with herbal nettles deliver clean bitterness with soothing elements of spruce and mango. A smooth body drips with slight sappy stickiness of a finely calibrated brew.
Looking to experience hoppy beers at the top of the current craft scene? Melvin’s IPA is your ticket in.
