A Note on This Beer
When you come to a town of 350 people in the middle of nowhere, the last thing you expect to find is one of the Pacific Northwest’s most esteemed breweries and one the region’s most popular DIPA’s.
But Winthrop, WA is home to Old Schoolhouse Brewery and their supremely hoppy, award-winning 90 IBU Imperial IPA.
Imperial’s taste signature is a resinous stamp of bold citrus and sticky pinesap – channeling the flavor ferocity of seven big Northwest hops directly onto the palate with a bitter torque of 9% ABV.
Recalling the venomous slap of Dogfish Head’s 120 minute IPA, this beer unleashes the bittering power of Warrior, Columbus and Simcoe Hops with notes of crushed pinecones, grapefruit rind and shreds of green onion. Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo deliver clean herbal orange before Citra punches through; its pure fruit juice flavor harmonizing with a hefty caramel malt character.
Imperial’s overwhelming hop richness has played a pivotal role in shaping the IPA landscape of the Pacific Northwest. And it’s become a Tavour fan favorite that we try to bring back as often as we can.
