A Note on This Beer
In baseball, the nickname “The Human Rain Delay” is a bit of a dubious honor. It’s given to players — Steve Traschel, Mike Hargrove — who took their time on the mound or in the batter’s box, leading to longer games.
That might be frowned upon in baseball circles (see the MLB’s brand new game delay rules) but in craft beer, taking one’s time is something to be celebrated! Just take a look at today’s Gueuze-Inspired Ale collab from Mason Ale Works and Stone Brewing!
To create it, the brewers blended complex Wild Ales aged in oak barrels for between one and three years. A long time? Sure. But once you get a taste, we think you’ll agree that it was worth it.
Subdued tartness leads the sip, with hints of funk glittering around the periphery. Notes of lemongrass and citrus zest sparkle throughout the brew, leading to mild oakiness on the crisp finish.
A pitcher like Steve “The Human Rain Delay” Traschel might have a tough time in today’s league, but there are plenty of folks who still appreciate those who take their time. After all, without a ton of patience (and a whole lot of skill) beers like this wouldn’t even exist.
