Urban Family Brewing
A Note on This Beer
Urban Family Brewing is the undisputed king of the Seattle Sour scene. When friends visit town with a taste for tart and tangy brews, it’s the first place I take ‘em.
Even Seattle Magazine named this crew the Best Sour Brewery in the craft-soaked city!
But, they also know their way around a hop cone. This is the Pacific Northwest, after all! Most of the hops grown in the U.S. come from the Yakima Valley, just a few hours from UF’s brand new (and thankfully much larger) taproom.
So, of course they had to combine their sour skills with some dank and fruity local greenery for Hoppy Sour Ale!
To create this marriage of hazy hop juice and tart tastiness, the brewers took their base Golden Sour Ale and dry-hopped it with a mountain of Galaxy, Citra, and Ekuanot Hops. Take a sip, and prepare for a deluge of tropical pineapple and bright citrus hop flavors that’ll make you pucker up like you’re looking to get smooched.
Hey, I get it. Urban Family beers have that effect on people! But, if you want to find out what happens when Seattle’s premiere Sour brewery embraces northwest hops, you’d better act fast — we have the only stash of Hoppy Sour leaving the Northwest!

Not usually a fan of sours but this one was pretty good.
“Hoppy Sour Ale” sounded unique so thought I’d try. Wasn’t much of either.
As advertised- hoppy but more sour
Dry, more hops than sour. Tart with light feel.
Very nice crisp, refreshing beer.
Good stuff, try it out
Easy drinking, delicious sour that was just what the doctor ordered
A perfect blend of hops and sour notes. This beer is derwicious
Hoppy; Tart; Crushable
I'm not typically a fan of light colored beer/ale, but this one was pretty decent. Just the right amount of sour with a lovely smell reminiscent of fresh pine needles. I didn't get the "pineapple" reference and the citrus notes were very subtle. All in all it was a pleasant experience
This was the first sour I had tried and I’m hooked. I was bummed I only bought one can. Definitely stocking up next time around!
Tart, light and super drinkable. Limeade with a little hoppy bitterness.
I don’t know why but I was not expecting much from this beer. it’s a good sour, very smooth. Just little light, but it’s perfect for this summer heat. I’m buying it again.
