Hoppin' Frog's Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Hoppin' Frog Brewery
A Note on This Beer
You know, I think I have to give pineapple up-side down cake another chance.
I never used to give this dessert the time of day (something ‘bout those cherries sitting in the middle of pineapple rings, staring up at me like eerie red eyes). But today’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake beer from Hoppin’ Frog is changing my tune with each tropically smooth sip!
This is a citrusy Shandy on pineapple steroids.
I can't emphasize enough how much it actually tastes like honey-drizzled yellow cake topped with fruit slices. How exactly the Hoppin' Frog crew managed to pack the brew's namesake flavors into a can is beyond me, but man, I'm glad they did!
And it's not just me! Craft fans all over the internet are calling it "Pure witchcraft" and praising its "literal cake mix and pineapple flavors."
So, if you already like pineapple upside-down cakes, it’s obvious how you’re gonna feel about this beer. And if you’re like me, well, you’re in for a surprise treat!

Tried turn can up side down to get better mixed taste, and result the frog didn’t hopping high enough! It wasn’t great, doesn’t taste like pineapple turnover , more of pineapple juice beer without sweetness..
Tasted too artificial
This one is my favorite beer so far
Some of the best beer I have had.
Way too sweet. Almost non-potable
Gone in 3 swallows
This is a widely accurate beer. Close your eyes and taste this. Un-canny
Not bad, a little too sweet.
Slightly sweet. Totally crushable.
delicious dessert beer!
Super sweet! But decent!
The flavor profile is spot on for what they are going for. I’m amazed how creamy it tastes.
Sweet but that should be expected. Lots of pineapple flavor.
Probably one of the worst things I’ve ever drank in my entire life. Was hoping for heaven, and tasted nothing but hell...only if hell were smothered in fermented dog shit and your mouth had taste buds linked to moldy warts on your fat grandmother’s unwashed vagina.
Exactly as described
Not my cup of tea. A little too sweet, more like a juice cocktail
The name says it all... It’s a little to sweet for my liking I wish I saved this beer to share with friends as it is very unique in flavor I would definitely purchase again just to have some friends experience this unusual brew ... Grade C-
Exceeded expectations. Easily one of my favorites so far. Sweet but smacks!
Good vibes and taste...Even the wife who isn't normally a beer aficionado enjoyed it.
Way sweeter than I expected but still delicious. I love pineapple everything.
Slightly better than the coconut one but seriously - yuck. Really not enjoyable for me and I generally like sweet fruit forward beers. Tastes like fruitcake spices and pineapple juice but too overwhelming
The description was spot on here. It tasted exactly like eating a pineapple upside down cake. Extremely good and can’t wait to have more!
The flavor of this beer is phenomenal! I liked everything about it. Definitely want to get more of these.
Way too sweet for me :(
My all time favorite wish I could order more
Good body. Flavors come off as more added into the beer versus apart of the beer
Tastes exactly as it is named. Sweeter than some might expect but not too sweet in my opinion. Delicious.
Hard to imagine this is either a shandy or radler. The flavor was very peculiar with a weird aftertaste. The lactose perhaps? Just didn’t taste all that good to me. Could not finish.
Good at first, but gets too sweet. is what it says it is though
Definitely for dessert beer fans, but not as cloying or boozy as Hoppin’ Frog’s Coconut Cream Pie Beer. It’s strangely quite tart for pineapple upside-down cake, though – more tart than even fresh pineapple would be. That makes the impression a bit incongruous.
My expectations were blown away by the flavors in this wonderfully sweet beer. Having never tried a beer from Hoppin’ Frog, I definitely underestimated them. It’s a little on the sweet side for my particular taste, but having said that it still tasted just like a pineapple upside down cake. Looking forward to trying more from HF. -MMike
delightfully surprised by the flavor and it was fun to drink. really did taste like pineapple dessert. even my mom liked it! would order this again.
