Really glad I bought this beer. Very flavorful would definitely visit the brewery
Tastes like marmite/soy sauce beer. Personally, not my thing.
Even though this was an imperial stout, the brandy barrels made the beer more complex than whiskey barrels.
Wowza! This beer pours like motor oil and is only lightly carbonated. but it's so rich in mouthfeel, you'll never miss the carbonation. Super strong chocolate aroma, flavors are way more complex. Chocolate, coffee, port and brandy can all be detected and the flavors dance and meld as the stout opens up. Just enough lactous to smooth things out, but not so much as tp make is too sweet, very well balanced.
Damn! Why can’t all Hardywood stouts be like this?
Brandy, sweet, cherry, oak
Good, complex malt character, but with many brandy barrel aged beers, a bit overpowered with grapey flavors
Rich and heavy and slightly sweeter than I would have liked.
Smooth, perfect balance of sweet and umami.
I've been drinking craft beer for 25 years. With that being said, its come a long way from the days of Pete's wicked ale and Samuel Adam's flavors of the early 90s. I compare this brew right up there with the gods who make Darkness and Darklord. Sinfully smooth, yet faintly carbonated alcohol bubbles still greet the palate. Strong toffee, chocolate, coffee and molasses flavors coat your tongue. I have never tried nor heard of beers by this brewery before this offering. In laments terms.....aquire, drink, and bask in the glory you have purchased. This beer is truly up there w the best of em!
Mouthful of raisins. Sweeter than expected with an almost port wine back. Very tasty.
Debatable and goofy. But 5 stars.
I love brandy barrel-aged beers. This one does not disappoint!
