A Note on This Beer
The Northwest reinvented the NE-Style Hazy IPA, combining the look and smoothness of the East with the fruity, piney, resinous bitter snap of the West. Leading this hazy-charge alongside neighboring in-state favorites like Three Magnets and Silver City is 12-time Washington Beer Awards winning Puyallup River Brewing.
Their Hazey's Comet IPA showcases this "Small Brewery of the Year" winners' innovative hoppy deliciousness. Inhale a whiff and be transported to a tropical fruit haven resting on the beaches of Jamaica -- sipping booze out of a pineapple, with a puff of green haze wafting in the air.
Hazey’s Comet utilizes Citra, Idaho 7, and Comet Hops to inject West Coast fruity dankness into a hazy NE-Style mouthfeel. Citra Hops blast shooting starfruit, melon and lychee aromas into the nose. Hazey’s Comet lands on the palate with resiny pine, ruby red grapefruit, papaya, and hints of black tea. The finish is grassy with a bitter grapefruit bite that says “pour me another and roll one more to go with it.”
This Northwest Hazy is a tropical blunt-like example of Puyallup River’s “Beer That Excites” mantra. Snag a taste of this Washington State pride and joy while you can. We don’t get our hands on them often, and these brews won’t see the light of day out of state.
