A Note on This Beer
When the mad fruit scientists at Urban Artifact first introduced Gyroscope in 2018, they gave a simple explanation for why they used whole fruit instead of the more common syrups and extracts:
“A fruited beer should be bold and unadulterated.”
No kidding — they used a mind-boggling 2,600 lbs of raspberries and 30 grams of vanilla!
Still boasting those awesome levels of fruit and vanilla decadence, the latest batch of Gyroscope expertly nails the crossroads between juicy, sweet, and tart. Fans rave that its tangy, raspberry smoothie flavors are “like a Sour Patch Kid” or a “frozen raspberry popsicle.”
These days, brewers all over the country load up their brews with real fruit. But, now’s your chance to taste one of the beers that led the charge!
Gyroscope is one of the Top 20 ‘Fruit and Field’ beers in the world on BeerAdvocate!

Raspberry, tart, sour, sweet
Thick and juicy, berry flavorful
Lots of raspberries
UA never disappoints!
Unbelievable. Deliciously tart. Tastes exactly like muddled raspberries. Great beer
Taste like next level communion
Really enjoyed this beer. Tastes like a tart raspberry fresh picked. Delicious.
‘Hello tartness my old friend’
On the high tart scale for me. Took me a while to finish it.
Excellent raspberry flavor. It was my first sour beer for me so it took me by surprise. It is definitely something to get use to.
raspberry done right. 10/10 flavor
Very tart for my tasting, good flavor though.
Beautifully rich and tart
I drank it and didn’t mind the taste of it on my lips and tongue but I did learn I’m not a fruit beer guy. It’s just not for me but I do respect the hustle.
very dry, very tart
This is a raspberry bomb! Strongly tart with TONS of raspberry.
nice tasty sour
Take a trip to Jamtown
The raspberry and vanilla come through clearly in the nose. The raspberry is also front and center in the taste but the vanilla is much less detectable. A tad bit on the sour side for my personal taste - I’d rather see it balanced a bit more with the tartness dialed back a bit. A little on the thin side in terms of mouthfeel. Comes across a bit watery for a beer with this much fruit and at this gravity level.
Amazing And Very Refreshing!
Tart and raspberry
Very sour, you can taste the berry in it. Great fruit taste.
Great sour.. The raspberry flavor is spot on!
Tart and sour raspberry fruit drink. Thick red color. Not my go to beer, but worth a shot to try if you like sour beers.
Nice sour. Slightly bitter. Wish it was a bit sweet, but it’s very good. Can’t taste the vanilla at all but the raspberry is a great flavor.
Anyone wanting more sweetness I recommend adding apple juice, saved this drink for me.
3.85 - 3.9 good sour raspberry flavor
Opaque Burgundy, fresh Raspberry juice aroma, tart, tangy, macerated Raspberry fruits minus the seeds, with subtle Vanilla compliments.
Really good raspberry flavor. Didn’t pick up much of the vanilla. Easy to drink!
Very much raspberry, but where is the vanilla?
100% taste raspberry all the way through front to back, not bitter or hoppy, I could see this being a 6 pack by the pool or at the beach beer
Good raspberry flavor, tart, not too sweet
Perfect embodiment of a sour
Tart, sweet and very berry raspberry. Cheers.
This is my first time trying a sour and I just don’t think it’s the beer for me. The raspberry flavoring is very good, but it is too tart for me. Definitely will be staying away from sours from now on.
Tart, fruity, heavy on the raspberry!
Fine. Fruity. Not complex.
raspberry dessert perfection in a can, and strong. wish I’d bought more !
Drinks like a carbonated raspberry dessert wine! I love it!!
Very tarty, tasting not for me but flavor wise its really good.
loved this! raspberry all the way, felt like there were going to be seeds in the bottom of the can!
solid. true, honest raspberry flavour
raspberry flavor is good… but it has a weird after taste
Sharply tart raspberry. There might be a suggestion (that’s less than a hint) of vanilla but this is a pretty standard (albeit well done) raspberry sour. More tart than fruit.
tarty, tasty, light and crisp
sweet, tangy, perfect summer drink
This went down so easy. Bright, acidic, but not too much so. I like it.
Much drier than I was fearing, nicely acidic and tart
dry. tart. raspberry.
a little bitter
loads of fruit with a nice sour finish
lots of raz
The raspberries could have used more raspberry flavor... Almost like they used ones that weren't quite ripe.
A bit on the tart side but had a good raspberry flavor.
tons of raspberry flavor, great sour
party in my mouth
deliciously tart. excellent flavor
Nice and sour with a full raspberry flavor.
after trying this beer I can honestly say that it wouldn’t be my first choice but it’s definitely still in the shopping cart, tart on the Can needs to be capitalized and underlined because how they have it now is definitely an understatement. the best way I can describe this is having a mouth full of not fully ripe raspberries, a lil sweetness would appreciated but again it still isn’t too bad
Great raspberry flavor but didn't pick up on the vanilla. Very tart and not sweet. Did take me a while to finish drinking, but tried with apple juice to kick up the sweetness a bit and did help.
great sour. not too sour…smooth finish
