really easy drinking for a dark ale, the fruit notes shine through but the bourbon aging adds a lot of layers
another malty bourbony beer. excellent stuff.
Fantastic, but on the sweet side... Buying another to cellar and drink in about 5 years.
Didn’t expect it to be this good. Wish I had a couple more.
Outstanding chocolate and plum dessert beer. Pleasant bourbon flavor spreads through at the end.
Dark fruit aromas and taste, medium body. ABV well hidden , unlike other high ABV Anchorage brews. Not as complex as the previous Anchorage ales I had.
Outstanding Belgian Dark! Borders on/near Barleywine notes with slight hints of the Belgian esters. The barrel character really increases the depth of flavor and enjoyability of this fine libation. ISO more.
Great barrel aged version of the style. Sweet dark fruit all day.
Just a fancy way of saying Belgian barleywine
One of the worst anchorage dark beer unfortunately. Oh well
big booze. lots of depth
the sweetness hits you up front like a perfectly ripe fruit. but it’s not overly sweet. once the fruit sweet subsided you are left with the oak finish that seems to linger on for a long time. quite enjoyable how the flavors develop on the tongue. it will be interesting to let my second bottle age.
Anchorage BA program is awesome
Very favorable and smooth easy to drink
Base feels light for a quad, perhaps d/t the barrel aging. Nice dark fruit notes and WR barrel character.
gutted that I couldn’t buy more
Awesome as any Anchorage beer usually is.
Okay as a mofo
Great dessert beer!
Barrel and oak up front and fades to dark fruit.
Great barrel character upfront with a subtle dark fruit finish.
This is wonderful. Toffee and caramel galore. Profile reminds me of one of their renowned barleywines but drinks lighter. Smooth mouthfeel. Love it.
Great layers and excellent barrel flavor
smooth , stylish, and dark… A taste of sweet notes touch the pallet. Enjoy!
Loved it! just like everything that Anchorage does.
another banger from ABC!
Another great product from Anchorage Brewing Company…
very sweet but not much character. disappointing
Smokey with toffee and figs
Tons of dark fruit. Followed by barrel. Thin mf
Dark, strong, and super tasty!
Amazing!! Sweet with barrel and fruit notes.
nose of a Barleywine, but drinks of a strong ale, very solid but I wanted more from it.
Delicious! Solid bourbon, boozy, vanilla notes coated with brown sugar and dark fruit sweetness, and a oaky warm finish sprinkled with dark chocolate bitterness. Smooth with a lingering bourbon aftertaste.
So good. Easy drinking. Well worth the 30 dollarish price tag. Slow supper on a cool night. Plum really comes through nicely. Similar to a nice Anchorage barley wine.
Very nice. Just not my type.
sweet and molassesey
more likes 4.3. great barley wine like body and flavor. caramel, toffee, vanilla, barrel, bourbon on the palate, complex and flavorful.
Bourbon and fruit. Delicious
Poured a rich dark brown with slowly dissipating dense ivory head. Flavours of dried fruits, bourbon, chocolate and molasses. Sweet, smooth and delicious
I guess I expected way more from this.
tons of bourbon barrel flavors and nice stone fruit. really good beer.
Dark dried fruits & boozey. Cheers.
Dark, Smooth and Fruity. Every sip has us commenting more on the different flavors.
Honeyed bourbon with a splash of molasses.
better than expectation
anchorage never disappoints!
a nearly perfect beer for my palette. The guys at Anchorage never cease to amaze me - I started loving their IPAs but have grown to love their dark beers even more! This one has some great dark fruit flavors that are complimented perfectly by the barrel aging. I would buy again and again!
Terrific… I wish I had more than 2 bottles!!
this one was good :-O well balanced, I really wish I ordered more ;-)
This was a dandy!
That’s some tasty swill
great for a porter but doesn’t hang with their big boy stouts
solid strong ale
